Soccer Laduma’s international team is looking for a passionate, dynamic and visionary writer to start in October 2018. This exciting role will be based in our Cape Town offices and he/she will help to grow Soccer Laduma’s international section in South Africa, broader Africa and overseas.

You need to bring sports writing experience (ideally two years), be committed to the tasks given, be reliable and most of all have a good analytical understanding of international football. You will be expected to write daily website stories, take part in international features for our weekly news paper and interview football stars of Europe’s biggest clubs. Main responsibilities include: 

  • Produce well-written international website stories every day
  • Adhere Soccer Laduma’s policies and editorial conduct
  • Responsible in helping to grow international section
  • Work closely with the editor
  • Write original and well-researched stories
  • Create new angles and engaging story lines
  • Be willing and go out of your way to contact international players, agents and coaches for exclusive content
  • Be able to use social media 


  • Two years football writing experience
  • Tertiary education in English, journalism or communications ideal
  • Superb international football knowledge and analytical mind
  • Ability to write concisely and under pressure
  • Excellent written, grammar and communication skills
  • Professional work ethic
  • Independent worker
  • Keen interest in learning and developing his/her writing and football knowledge
  • Open to trying out new ideas
  • Social media literate
  • Dedicated, hard working
  • Must be able to work under pressure and deal with deadlines
