Spree, one of South Africa’s leading online fashion stores, requires the expertise of a Head of Brand Marketing to grow and position the Spree brand as the online destination for shopping on-trend Ladies’, Men’s and Kids’ fashion in South Africa. Spree is an innovative and entrepreneurial E-commerce player that owns and invests into the total end-to-end supply chain, including in-house production, new tech feature developments and DC.

The Head of Brand Marketing will oversee and drive all aspects of the brand strategy and communications - above, below and through the line. The role will help drive Spree’s growth. Taking the lead to entrench the brand positioning, grow brand reach, awareness, and likeability by ensuring campaigns are delivered on brand and through all available channels to market while identifying new opportunities to establish the brand and grow market share. The successful candidate will head up the Brand & Communications Marketing team and closely liaise with the Content, Creative and Merchandising teams.

Minimum Requirements
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Minimum 3+ years marketing management experience working on digital B2C brand
• Experience in managing ATL channels to market, specifically TV
• Brand strategy

• Fashion Ecommerce experience
• Experience in engaging with media/ bloggers and other influential persona
• Strong Excel skills
• Google Analytics

Skills and Competencies 
• Strong understanding of, and experience in developing and implementing, brand strategy for a fast-pace, high involvement, digital, B2C brand
• Analytical thinker who is comfortable identifying and testing new ways to measure the impact of traditional/ brand centric marketing activities on Ecommerce metrics. Thinking about the end-to-end impact of campaigns
• Expertise and experience in the production of content (stories and video) – from idea generation through to the final distribution of material to channel owners
Experience in managing agencies across a range of brand centric marketing areas including TV, TV Media, BTL, and PR. Clear understanding of TV and other ATL media schedules
• Strong understanding of influencer marketing and social media marketing tactics and how the two work together. Ability of storytelling in a 360 holistic way
• Proven track record in managing large (marketing) budgets
• Proven track record in managing and motivating a highly passionate, diverse team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships with peers, internal stakeholders, and as external partners
• Strong knowledge of Google Analytics and Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of the South African Online Landscape and fashion Ecommerce
• Event management experience

Key Responsibilities 
• Define the brand proposition in line with business objectives, target audiences and competitive landscape
• Lead and direct the development of a brand strategy together with the Head of Customer Interaction and in consultation with key stakeholders (CEO, General Manager, Creative Director, Head of Content, etc)
• Communicate and ensure understanding of, and agreement with the brand strategy and clear implementation across all platforms and channels
• Enhance relationships with key stakeholders across multiple business support functions and agency partners to align and optimise delivery of brand proposition
• Develop a brand-led Marketing Strategy
• Create and manage all brand plans, marketing calendars and marketing budget focused on driving awareness and growth (for non-performance areas)
• Working closely with the Head of Content to ensure the editorial strategy aligns with the brand and marketing strategy
• Work with the Art Director and Creative Director to make sure there is full alignment in how the brand strategy and customer proposition is visualised through campaigns, shoots and design
• Manage and guide the team to deliver effective ROI marketing through the following channels:
     - ATL Marketing
     - BTL Marketing including influencers, ambassadors, activations & events
     - Partnerships & Brand Collaborations
     - PR
     - Campaigns – both performance and brand campaigns
• Support and closely work together with the content team to deliver effective ROI marketing through Social Media and Editorial (The Thread)
• Manage Marketing Research requirements end-to-end
• Ensure ongoing measurement of all key brand metrics including direct traffic, conversation, amplification and applause rate, growth in owned audience, recency and frequency, and performance of the Spree brand keywords efforts so as to feedback on, and optimize, the impact of this area of marketing on Spree’s performance
