Job Description

Soccer Laduma is looking for a Content Manager to contribute to its online editorial department.

You'll be joining an expanding and highly successful team. This is an opportunity to not only work with, but also to learn from the team at this leading Soccer publication who live off their football passion.

The position is based in Cape Town.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Sub-edit articles for the website
  • Correct all spelling and grammatical errors
  • Ensure high quality of each article posted 
  • Look for the strongest possible angles
  • Feedback to journalists regarding quality of articles and/or changes required
  • Work closely with the editor to manage breaking news
  • Ensure articles are posted timeously
  • Monitor content performance to ensure that article reads are maximised
  • Enhancing social posts on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram
  • Crafting clever blurbs to entice click throughs from social channels
  • Analyse the social post (Facebook, G+) to ensure that all elements meet a high standard
  • Monitor social referrals through posts to track success

 

Knowledge and experience:

  • Completed a degree or diploma in English, Journalism or Media Studies
  • At least two years’ experience in content management
  • Football-related experience advantageous
  • Strong digital skills
  • Passion for South African football and a knowledge of local clubs, leagues and players 
  • Understanding of media law

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure clean copy on the website
  • Ability to work under pressure due to intense online environment
  • Reliability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Can make decisions independently as well as within a group
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Logical thinker who can analyse situations and come up with the right solutions
