DistrictMail, proud source of news and information in the Helderberg region, has an opportunity for a circulation assistant in its Strand office. The successful candidate will be required to initiate and follow through on circulation drives, do merchandising in various stores in the Helderberg and Stellenbosch as well as assist the team with the execution of marketing plans and activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Initiate and follow through on circulation drives for District Mail and Eikestadnuus
  • Monitoring of street and retail sales
  • Ensuring that proper levels of stock are maintained and that the merchandise is displayed appropriately and favourable shelf placement
  • Monitor sales volumes, inspect inventory levels and maintain in-store promotional materials throughout promotional periods
  • Handle queries
  • Provide service and maintain good working relationship with retailers to help both the retailer and title maximise sales and increase sales volumes
  • Assist the team with the execution of all marketing activities
  • Ensure that all marketing material is distributed and collected as needed
  • Asset control and store room management

  • Previous sales and merchandising experience will be an advantage
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Diploma in sales and marketing or studying towards a diploma will be an advance
  • Passion for media, knowledge of current affairs
  • Able to work irregular hours
