Job Description

Be part of our vibrant fashion ecommerce company with an unapologetic drive to ensure that customers become raving fans.

Your mission: to help design, plan, and refine user experience and flows for multiple devices, through pre-production, release, and live operations. To do this you’ll need to conceptualize the user experience through wireframes, flow diagrams, prototyping and designs.

Minimum Requirements
- A degree or diploma in web design, graphic design, human-computer interaction or related work experience.
- 2+ years experience in user-centred design with hands-on experience from initial wireframes to developing prototypes and providing final assets.
- Professional background as a UI & UX designer in mass-market web and mobile products.
- Strong UX skill set including strategy, information architecture, design aesthetic, and usability testing.
- Proven understanding of interaction design concepts and a unique sense of design principles.
- Familiarity with Agile Development.
- Positive attitude and ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.

Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Sketch / Adobe suite and wireframing tools like Axure.
- Able to multi task in a fast-paced team environment.
- Very strong communication skills, both written and oral, with natural ability to articulate and defend design decisions and run work sessions.
- Problem-solving skills.
- A good working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Libraries.
- Understanding of responsive design principles and device specific best practices (iOS and Android).

Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of and experience in beautiful interfaces. Someone who can focus on the smallest details, while keeping a view on the entire design system.

You’ll be working closely with product managers and developers to create delightful user experiences. It’s vital that you have the ability to communicate designs and design rationale clearly, to the team and to management. You’ll be pairing up with the Head of UX Design who will help you learn and stay on track.

The key to a successful business is to understand customers, their needs and behaviours. So there’ll be lots of customer research - both qualitative and quantitative. We’ll be uncovering how customers use our product and enhance the interfaces to better help the division meet business goals.

A big part of designing for real people is testing with real people. You’ll need to work through feedback loops (including user testing) and respond to the results to improve on designs. Experience with user testing is a plus.

Given the employment equity policy of Media24, preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups.
